George
M. H. Thoms was born in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England on 5th
June 1880, the third child and only son 0f Thomas (1845 -
1933) and Agnes Thoms. His grandfather was a younger brother
of the 15th Chief of Clan MacThomas.
George
married Mabel F. Thoms, the elder daughter of W.A. Bunn from
Ipswich, in Bombay Cathedral, India on 6th March 1914 and they
had two children - Jean (1916-1973) and Patricia (1917-1941)
.
George
was the Company Secretary of Muir Mills Company Limited in
Cawnpore (now Kanpur) India for many years and the
family lived there.
He died
in Port Said, Egypt on 6th October 1928 whilst returning to
India from his parent's home in Clevedon, Somerset, England.
He was only 48 years old. He is buried in the Churchyard in
Port Said.
His
widow, Mabel, spent the later years of her life living close
to her elder daughter in Oxshott, Surrey, England and passed
away in 1969.
George
Thoms is the maternal Grandfather of the current Treasurer of
the Clan MacThomas Society.
